From garden mushrooms to pattern weight spools. My mum is a true artist, she’s a creative genius who can make anything!! Upcycling comes naturally to her, She can look at a picture – or a sketch of a garment and know exactly how to make it. She can fix anything, one of her funny quotes to describe her talent is;
‘Give me some blue tack and a coat hanger and i’ll make it work’
She has an eye for detail (when she’s wearing her glasses) she sees beauty in the most unconventional ways – when most people see old rubbish, she sees potential. It’s one of the main reasons she saves everything from bottles and jars to pringle tubes.
FAIRES

FAIRY HOUSES
Books and fairy houses are a common feature in our little home.

THE WHITE TRENCH
This jacket is the most valuable piece I own. Mum made it in 1986 (her fav year) My nan saved it for me until my 18th and I can wear it with anything! It’s my statement spring piece. Its classy, timeless, elegant and perfect because mum made it.
UPCYCLED BOOKS

SCRAPBOOKS
Having a mum that understands my creative needs is the most amazing thing! I feel so blessed to have her. We did the exact same course in college (at the same college) we are both passionate about the same things. She knows exactly what I’m talking about when it comes to everything from seam allowance to GSM. While I was at uni she made me loads of scrap books; each for different things. I’m still amazed at what she makes, even though I know what she’s capable of.
Shots from the 80s! My mum is the blonde one in the middle, she made clothes for herself and all her friends. I’m making it a goal of mine to photocopy all the pics I find of her from the 80s so we can add another scrapbook to the collection 😉
I hope you enjoyed this post. If you sew, craft or up-cycle please share!
